Stephen and I have made the difficult decision to close Sound Bites Sauce & Spread Co. We were experiencing steady growth, but we simply ran out of personal and family resources to keep going until we could reach profitability. Although we tried to secure bank loans or private investment, we were not able to do so.
We would like to thank our many fans, our employees, and our farmer-suppliers. We are grateful to everyone who bought our products, came to our local food celebrations, and hung out with us at farmers markets.
If the local food movement in the Puget Sound weren’t so strong, we wouldn’t have made it this far. Thank you for believing in the mission of this company—we are humbled and heartened by the response we got from thousands of customers.
Please feel free to leave comments here at this post—share a fave Sound Bites story, tell us which product you’ll miss those most, or offer Stephen a job.
See you at the markets. Hopefully you’ll recognize us, in plain clothes, without our aprons on.

Two of our Middle Eastern Washington(tm) Hummus flavors can now be found at Pasta & Co. If you’ve never been to a Pasta & Co. store, you’re in for a treat. Stop by one (or all) of the locations in Queen Anne, U. Village, or Bellevue to find our Riesling Garbanzo or Merlot Red Bean Hummus.
Our complete store list is available here.

Garbanzo Bean Bin at Central Bean, Quincy, Washington
Our Bacon-esque and Honey Mustard Hummus flavors proved to be such a big hit at farmers markets that we are going to continue making them for our retail store customers. Please see our
store list to see which stores are featuring Sound Bites hummus.
South Sound stores are carrying these two new flavors, but they won’t be available at Whole Foods in Seattle for a few more weeks. In Seattle, you can pick up these flavors at the University District, Ballard or Capitol Hill farmers markets, or you can find them at Madison Market on Capitol Hill or Sunset Hill Greenmarket in Ballard, 6405 32nd Ave NW.
